FAU-Help – Online Higher Education Project to help the Ukraine in Times of Crisis
In der durch den Krieg verursachten Krise des ukrainischen Bildungs- und Hochschulwesens benötigen ukrainische Hochschulen dringend Unterstützung. Derzeit kann die Hochschullehre nur unzureichend durchgeführt werden, da Infrastrukturen zerstört wurden, sich Lehrende auf der Flucht oder im Militärdienst befinden und auch viele Studierende innerhalb und außerhalb des Landes Schutz suchen mussten.
Das zentrale Ziel des Projekts FAU-Help ist es daher, ukrainische Studierende – und zwar sowohl geflüchtete als auch diejenigen, die unter widrigsten Umständen in ihrer Heimat ausharren – mit Hilfe digitaler Lehrangebote in der Fortführung und dem Abschluss ihres Studiums zu unterstützen und somit ihren Studienerfolg möglichst nahtlos zu sichern. In enger Zusammenarbeit mit den vier ukrainischen Partnerhochschulen wird im Projekt der Bedarf an digitalen Lehrangeboten ermittelt sowie geeignete Lehrangebote identifiziert und angepasst. Für die ukrainischen Studierenden wird auf der FAU-eigenen Lehr- und Lernplattform StudOn ein Bereich geschaffen, auf dem sie auf das Lehrangebot zugreifen können.
Insgesamt werden 35 digitale Lehrangebote der FAU für Bachelor- und Masterstudierende aus den Bereichen Wirtschaftswissenschaften und Schlüsselqualifikationen bedarfsentsprechend entwickelt, angepasst, in englischer Sprache zur Verfügung gestellt und tutoriell betreut.
Ein weiteres Ziel des Projekts ist es, den Austausch zwischen ukrainischen und deutschen Lehrenden und Studierenden zu fördern und langfristig zur Integration des ukrainischen Hochschulwesens in den europäischen Hochschulraum beizutragen.

Due to the on-going war in the Ukraine, Ukrainian universities are in urgent need of support. Currently, studying or teaching at Ukrainian universities is fraught with much hardship. Very often the infrastructure has been destroyed. Moreover, students and lecturers have either joined the military, or have fled the cities or the country in search of a safe haven.
The primary goal of the FAU-Help project is therefore to support Ukrainian students, both those who have fled the country and those who have chosen to remain in the country and find themselves faced with countless hardships. The FAU-Help project hopes to provide them with the opportunity to continue and successfully complete their studies. In close cooperation with the four Ukrainian partner universities, the project will determine the need for online courses, and adapt suitable courses. For this purpose, an area on the FAU’s teaching and learning platform will be made available for Ukrainian students from where they can access the courses.
Digital courses offered by the FAU in the field of economics and key qualifications with a total of approximately 35 courses, are currently designed and adapted. Courses will be available in English and a tutor will provide support.
An additional aim of the project is to create an exchange between Ukrainian and German university lecturers and students in order to promote the integration of the Ukrainian higher education system into that of the European higher education system.
